We began our program
in the summer of 2014 with a few important goals.
1.
Build a program that would encourage and teach
children to be safe in the water, proficient at swimming strokes, and have a
love of swimming.
2.
Keep class sizes small, to maximize the instruction
time and personalize each class.
3.
Follow the American Red Cross Swim program (and
its class structure) to maintain a swim program that would progress swimmers at
measurable levels.
Our current certified instructors are Emma, Avery and Graham who each have completed the American Red Cross Swim Instructor Course and
have demonstrated mastery in swimming strokes, life-guarding, and swim
instructor proficiency. Lainey will also be a helper teacher in the pool this summer as she is working on certification to be ready to also teach Summer 2025. We may also have veteran teacher, Emma, when she's free during the summer for a couple of sessions, or private lessons depending on demand/interest. Our instructors are experienced with
children of all ages and will do everything they can to help your swimmers LOVE
lesson time! Little Fish Swim School is held at the Miller
Home, in Meridian Idaho. This is a private
residence. During all classes, Holly
Miller, will be on the premises and/or poolside.
At Little Fish Swim School, no class ever exceeds 3 students. This is an incredible opportunity for your swimmers, and future swimmers to get needed attention during instruction. Instructors will follow the American Red Cross leveling and instruction plans and will test students (although students won’t necessarily know they are being tested) to determine when the show mastery of a level. Communication with parents is a priority. If you are unsure of what level to start your child at, we can discuss swimming exposure and experience and work with you to get them in the right class. ( Levels 1-4)

.Due to its popularity, this season we are only offering one week sessions (4 days, 50 minutes a day) Our swim families like this because it doesn't tie up so much scheduled time, they can more easily sign up for multiple sessions, and the kids get to be in the pool for a longer time period during each lesson. All classes run Monday-Thursday. There are no Friday Lessons.
We have found this allows families time to travel and enjoy their summertime weekends)
Missed classes will not be refunded.
Students may register for any sessions of the summer in advance. (Completed registration forms along with payment
of classes in full is the only guarantee of reservation) Release waiver must be completed and signed
prior to student entering the pool. Cash or checks (payable to Holly Miller) accepted. For this season, Little Fish Swim School will offer 3 sessions. The number of classes offered and times
available will depend on need/interest in each level. We may add more classes depending on availability and interest. We will work with you to try to get siblings in different levels in the same timeframe. We'll do our very best to accommodate your preferences. Once sessions are full, we will do our best to accommodate the waiting list group. We will no longer offer private lessons during our morning sessions. We are grateful for so much interest, that we feel sad to turn away so many that are interested, so we can accommodate more students if we don't fill up lesson times with private lessons. In previous seasons we have offered a private water babies class. We will no longer offer this option. If you really want a private lesson, please contact us and we can see if that is an option at another time in the day. Since our group class only has 3 students, we really feel like the instructor is able to give a lot of individualized attention to students, without needing a private lesson.
Fee
Schedule per session: Semi private lesson, $75 per session (this is for a week long class)
There is a 10 minute transition period between classes, so please be prompt with drop
off/pick up as we will be scheduling lessons back to back, and in respect of
the instructor time. Please do not drop off early, we want to get them swimming right when they get here. Parents are welcome to stay, but not required to stay. Many parents drop off students and pick them up after. However it works best for you is great for us. ONLY SWIMMERS (no siblings) on LIttle Fish School Premisis. Hair should be
pulled back into a ponytail- or swim caps may be worn. There are
no bathrooms available (except in an emergency) at Little Fish Swim
School. (We want to maximize instruction
time). Children must be potty trained to take swim lessons. Please make sure your child has
used the restroom at home before coming to class. Floating devices, kickboards,
and pool toys will be provided by Little Fish Swim School- please do not bring
these items from home. Goggles are
encouraged.
Life Saving and water safety will
be discussed as is appropriate within the levels, rather than taking up an
entire lesson day for this. At the end
of this lesson a certificate will be awarded with student progression within
Red Cross swim levels. Little Fish Swim
School will also provide end of session treats for each participant!
